25 Aug What to do if it’s all been done before?
Have you ever had the world’s most brilliant idea only to find out that someone’s already done it?
I’ve had this happen so many times. I’ve had what seems like a million-dollar idea at 2 am, only to google it the next day and to realise that it’s all been done before.
So is this a reason to give up?
Depends on the idea.
If you’re want to just get something out there fast and you don’t have much capital to make it happen and the other company is a fairly established business… then it might be tricky.
However, if it’s a super niche product, service or course and people offer similar but not quite the exact same thing as you?
Then it’s definitely not time to give up.
As a business owner, one thing I’ve realised over time that rarely (possibly if you’re some new tech start-up) is your idea completely original.
The difference is you and your version of this idea.
Just yesterday I was chatting with a client who mentioned the name of another marketing coach. I hadn’t heard of her but a quick google search saw me land on her website.
And I couldn’t believe it… I have been putting the finishing touches on a social media personality type quiz only to see that this coach has a similar one.
I could run away and hide, thinking that I’m a copycat.
Or I could say, well I haven’t done her quiz. I’m not going to do her quiz, even just for research – why bother? I’ve done my work, I’m going to share my quiz with the world.
Because at the end of the day, every time you post on social media, every time you send an email, every time you help someone with what you share, you’re building trust.
At the end of the day, people buy from people they trust.
So here it is… my What’s holding you back from being consistent on your socials? quiz
(I’m still working on a catchy title ok? I’m hoping that it will come to me at 2am tonight)
Let me know what answer you get!
